Congressman James C. Corman at Hughes Missile March 1966
The Boeing Company West Hills was once the home of the Hughes Aircraft facility (8433 Fallbrook Avenue) Located next to the Chatsworth RESERVOIR. This site was used for GUIDED MISSILE, SPACE VEHICLE AND AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURING. Over the years buildings have been leased and/or sold to other San Fernando Valley Businesses including the the De Vry School, the Keller Company and the West Hills Sheriff’s Department to House the 911 Emergency Response & Community Center. A facility used for keeping Aerospace Employees in Shape is The Rocketdyne Recreation Center, located across the street and is still in operation today. Both Facilities are approximately three miles from the Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL).

1962 - A Full Chatsworth Reservoir with the Hughes Missile Facility On the Shoreline
Below is an Early Photo of the Chatsworth Reservoir, decades ago the television series “Rin Tin Tin” was filmed here, as well as Motion Pictures such as “Susanna Pass” Starring Roy Rogers & Dale Evans. Please Note, the producers of the Film Spelled Susana with two “N’s” as every other Susana in the area has one.

Below are photos of what the Chatsworth Reservoir looked like in 1993 & 2006. The reservoir was drained and taken out of service by the Department of Water and Power in 1969 and has since been declared seismically unsafe for use as a reservoir. This site provides a desirable open space amenity.
